Helmet4Hope Contest Terms and Conditions

Eligibility
This contest (the “Contest”) is open to Canadian residents only, who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence at the time of entry, as well as minors who have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By entering, minors confirm that they have such consent.

Employees, contractors, agents, or representatives of the Contest Sponsor, and members of their immediate families or households, as well as previous Contest winners, are not eligible.

This Contest is not open to residents of Quebec due to provincial regulatory differences.

Contest Period
The contest is open to submissions for one month prior to the voting period. The voting period will be October 10-18, 2025.

How to Enter

  • No purchase is necessary.
  • To enter, participants must submit a helmet design through the online entry form and by using the design template at brodieseger.com/helmet4hope, or send a design to helmet4hope@gmail.com.
  • Alternate method of entry: entrants may mail a plain piece of paper with their full name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and a unique original drawing of a helmet design to: ALSBC, 1228 – 13351 Commerce Parkway, Richmond, BC, V6V 2X7. Mailed entries must be postmarked during the Contest Period and received prior to the voting period.
  • Entries will be reviewed by the contest host before being approved to the public contest gallery. Entries that do not comply with the Submission Guidelines may be disqualified.
  • The top ten designs from the 2024 contest will be automatically be carried forward and entered in the 2025 contest, unless the artist requests otherwise.

Submission Guidelines

  • Original designs only.
  • The design should feature the colour purple and reflect meaning about the fight against the disease of ALS. This may include the use of symbols such as the Blue Cornflower.
  • Designs should feature the hashtag #endALS.
  • The design does not need to include the head sponsor logo(s), Alpine Canada logo, or helmet manufacturer logo, but keep in mind that these must all be visible and fit with the design in the final product.

Judging Criteria
Designs should be judged based on relevance to ALS awareness, visual appeal, and adherence to the Submission Guidelines. Winners are determined by public vote, which may be altered at the sole discretion of the contest host.

Prizes

  • A prize will be awarded by SMITH Optics for each of the top 3 designs at the end of the contest voting period. The prizes will be awarded as follows:
    • 1st place: a package including a SMITH ski helmet, ski goggles, and sun glasses of the winner’s choosing.
    • 2nd place: a pair of SMITH ski goggles of the recipient’s choosing.
    • 3rd place: a pair of SMITH sun glasses of the recipient’s choosing.
  • The approximate total maximum retail value of all prizes is $2,200 CAD.
  • Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion of a prize) with another prize of equal or greater value at its sole discretion.

Winner Selection and Odds

  • Winners will be selected on October 19, 2025, from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
  • Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received, and the artist’s promotion of their design to garner more votes.
  • The entrant with the most votes at the end of the voting period must correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question (without assistance) to be declared a winner.

Notification of Winners

Selected entrants will be contacted within 2 days after the end of the voting period by email or phone. If a selected entrant cannot be reached within 7 days, fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question, or is otherwise deemed ineligible, another entrant may be selected.

Intellectual Property in Submissions

By entering, each participant represents and warrants that their helmet design is their own original work and does not infringe on any third-party rights. Entrants retain ownership of their submitted design. However, by entering, participants grant the Contest Sponsor a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, and display the design for purposes of administering and promoting the Contest and fundraising initiatives.

Disqualification
Entries that fail to comply with the Submission Guidelines or include inappropriate or offensive content may be disqualified.

Limitation of Liability
Brodie Seger is not responsible for lost entries, technical issues, or third-party copyright claims. By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability, loss, or damage arising from or in connection with participation in this Contest or the awarding, receipt, use, or misuse of any prize. The Sponsor and host reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest if it cannot be conducted as planned for any reason, including tampering, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond its reasonable control.

Privacy

Personal information collected from entrants will be used only for the purposes of administering this Contest and for future notifications regarding contests organized by the Sponsor. Information will be collected and stored in compliance with applicable Canadian and British Columbian privacy laws.

Governing Law

This Contest is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Social Media Disclaimer

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platform. Entrants release all such platforms from any liability arising from the Contest.
